This photo-shop piece, "Limbo" is one of my most personal art pieces. Inspired by Albrecht Dürer's Pen-and-Ink drawing; "The Praying Hands", used to convey a kind tribute to Albert (Dürer's Brother) from Dürer for all of his sacrifice in work. My piece tends to have a different meaning to it. It represents me praying to god, mourning after the loss of my dearest friend. Resorting to God as a way out of my depressive state of mind, and praying to him for help.
Inspiration
Artist in Focus: Albrecht Dürer
Albrecht Dürer was a German painter, print-maker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. He is mostly known for his great impact of printmaking and woodcuts throughout the German Renaissance Era (15th-16th Century) "Praying Hands" is one of Dürer's most famous art pieces, and best-known. Done on Ink and blue paper, I chose this as my main inspiration for photo-shop art.
His art is highly detailed and extremely realistic, Having this as my main piece of inspiration was perfect for representing the type of message that I wanted to convey in my artwork. Dürer used very simple line sketches for the intricate details on the hands; specifically on the creases, veins, and skin texture. Although, this piece is only black ink on blue paper, he was able to accurately reflect the highlights and shadows on the hands, including the sleeves.
